Fatboy Slim Turned Down Judge Spot On Simon Cowell's DJ TV Show

Simon Cowell wants to cash in on the errpution of the popularity of dance music and who better to get a man to be a judge on his new reality TV show for dj's then the man himself Fat Boy Slim.

Fortunately Normin Cook aka Fat Boy Slim turned down the offer from former TV show American Idol judge, with Norman saying..

"As dance music get taken over by people like Cowell it becomes about being famous and money, the nasty side which I think for years it was relatively free of. Kids grow up thinking to be a DJ, you've got to be sexy and bling.. It's not about that. I'm glad that one bandwagon he didn't jump on."

Fatboy then sent out a message to Cowell, saying "please don't do it, it will ruin the rest of us".

Thank goodness the show never started.

Digital 1 Audio releases PCDJ DEX 2.6.3 for MAC and Windows

Digital 1 Audio releases PCDJ DEX 2.6.3 for MAC and Windows, a feature packed free update to their DJ software that mixes audio, music videos and karaoke.

Clearwater, Florida, 8/8/13. Digital 1 Audio, Inc (http://www.pcdj.com), a leading designer of live performance software for professional DJ’s, karaoke hosts and entertainers announced the release of PCDJ DEX 2.6.3. The new free update for existing PCDJ DEX 2 users includes a brand new advanced user interface, harmonic mixing support and auto-detection for 55 supported DJ controllers.

“A major focus of the DEX 2.6.3 update was the user interface” says Digital 1 Audio’s General Manager Ryan Sherr. “We tested a few designs with our customers before finalizing the skin, which we feel is far easier to navigate and makes better use of DEX 2’s mixing capabilities” Sherr Continues “In addition, we’ve added support for 12 new DJ controllers and have re-implemented all previously supported controllers. DJ controller support has been greatly fine tuned, so controllers simply work better. The “key field” is also now supported in the DEX 2 library, so harmonic mixing is possible. We invite anyone that’s tried PCDJ DEX 2 before to download the free trial; I think DJ’s will find DEX 2.6.3 an excellent all-in-one mixing software solution”

Here are some of the notable features and/or improvements in DEX 2.6.3:

New GUI “Skin” at many resolutions (very high resolutions supported)

Advanced searching (separate search terms by spaces, search/filter by bpm/year/key)

Harmonic mixing: support for key in Circle of Fifths or compatible formats (in ID3 tags)

Re-implemented MIDI buffering (major stability improvement) Improved support for all supported DJ controllers

Robin Thicke's Song Sounds Like Marvin Gaye. So He's Suing Gaye's Family.

by Zoe Chace
"Blurred Lines," this year's song of the summer*, sounds a lot like Marvin Gaye's "Got to Give It Up," one of the songs of the summer of 1977.

In fact, it sounds so much like the Marvin Gaye song that Robin Thicke and the other guys behind Blurred Lines have launched a preemptive strike: They filed a lawsuit against Marvin Gaye's family. Thicke and the other plaintiffs don't want money; they want the court to rule that "Blurred Lines" does not infringe on "Got to Give It Up."

Members of Marvin Gaye's family have reportedly been asking for a cash settlement and threatening to sue, according to the Hollywood Reporter, which broke the story.

The first paragraph on the complaint manages to both praise Gaye and brag about the success of Blurred Lines (emphasis ours):

Plaintiffs, who have the utmost respect for and admiration of Marvin Gaye ... reluctantly file this action in the face of multiple adverse claims ... Defendants continue to insist that plaintiffs' massively successful composition, 'Blurred Lines,' copies 'their' compositions."

The complaint continues:

The basis of the Gaye defendants' claims is that "Blurred Lines" and "Got To Give It Up" "feel" or "sound" the same. Being reminiscent of a "sound" is not copyright infringement. The intent in producing "Blurred Lines" was to evoke an era. In reality, the Gaye defendants are claiming ownership of an entire genre, as opposed to a specific work ...
